1- religion. people don't think even cloning organs is what god would want

2- wording/language. human cloning is a large term that includes many things in many different forms. many would allow us to clone an organ (we already clone things like ears, but those are only body parts. I don't know exactly how the law works on that one) but not a whole person

3-safety. we don't know the consequences or the possibilities of something going wrong. without for information it won't be legalized. and even then people will have to sign 10 forms before they can participate

4-funding. there is no reason to legalize something that won't be able to be done right away- possibly for years. we can talk about legalizing it when we're ready to try it.

First of all, there are too many people on this planet anyway, 7 billion humans is enough mouths to feed! If cloning is used in the wrong hands and Iran or North Korea starts cloning, thats not good at all. And having several identical people will create problems with the government.

Why? Do you want to have you cloned? Do you have a clue as to why they don't clone? How many people would it take to overcrowd the earth?

HOWEVER, if they would clone something, and this I wish they would do, is to clone body parts. Hearts, livers, kidneys, pancreas. Important things like that. It would be great for them to have enough to grow internal organs in which people must go onto a waiting list and risk dying. If they take a sample of the organ, like say kidneys when we are healthy, should that body part fail we wouldn't have to worry about waiting for a transplant. That would be the only advantage I'd see.

Too bad that doesn't work with fruit and veggie plants that are organic to speed up production so they don't have to wonder if the crop will be destroyed.

Basically I think that has to do with religious problems... believing only God can create a life.

Simple Answer:
Human cloning should be legal. I have never understood the opposition to it. It's not like the clone has all the memories etc.. of the original. The clone is an independent person. Experiences make us who we are, not genetics.

Complicated: Genetic Modification
I am all for genetic modification when it comes to preventing things like heart disease or diabetes. The problem and what makes this so complicated is, the religious wackos that will end up allowing things like preventing being gay, etc...

It is like taking the role of God, God has made every living organism with a design (thats what i believe), and if people (God's creation) try and copy that nothing would make sense anymore. No-one can compete with God, let alone take he's role. Also if a human is cloned it is not fair on that person because they will not have been created by God, they will not have their own unique features that God would have given them, they would simply be a duplicate of someone else.

Because policy makers who have no idea about scientific break throughs that can be achieved through human cloning put ideology above science once again and declare it illegal.
