Peter Jackson might not direct the film, The Hobbit, a prequel to the events of LoTR and which follows Bilbo as he finds the One Ring and has a battle with a dragon, despite heavy public support because the studio and he had a fallout. Sam Raimi of the Evil Dead and Spiderman films has expressed interest though.
There are multiple versions of the script floating around and, supposedly, even some for The Silmarillion, which follows the war over the Ring and which solidified Sauron as a major threat to Middle-Earth.
I hope Jackson can find a way, because even Tolkien's son, Christopher, really loves what Jackson did with the books.

There are talks of a prequel called "The Hobbit" but the company won't let Peter Jackson direct it because he is sueing them....

I THINK that they are going to make the Hobbit (again). otherwise i dont know.
