well, it was the boy who wanted to marry her first. after marraige my friend has plans to go to the US to complete her studies.......they are not going to live together until both of them have completed their studies and got a job.

It all depends where they want to marry? If they are interested in getting married in India she has to wait till he is 21years as any Indian can marry any foreigner only under the Foreign Marriage Act, 1969 wherein the bridegroom has to be at least 21years old. But if they are getting married in USA then whatever the US law states will be applicable to them, if their matrimonial law allows an American to marry a foreigner where bridegroom should be 16years then she can get married to him.

Why not, that is a good idea to do before they get settled in life. If it is true love there will be no problems for the couple to be a part for a while.
