You get over loneliness by getting out of the house. Go out with friends, go to a movie, read a book, call a friend, go visit Mom and Dad.....the point being, DO SOMETHING! Loneliness will consume you if you just sit there in that house all night, every night. If you get out, there's a good chance you'll meet someone.

I can relate to your situation. I do as you and feel my time up with anything I can. The winter is the hardest because I can't get out and do things in the yard. And at night, I have had insomnia for so long that I take ambiem to help me sleep. I have a couple of cats that takes some of the loneliness away. I see so many people that just hook up with anyone to avoid loneliness and it usualy doesn't work for them. I remember when I was married that there many days that I felt lonely even when he was there. So not always does another person fill up what we think is missing. I wish you the best.

First of all, nobody makes you happy. You have to learn to do this yourself. Learn to like YOU, and your own company. When you are bright, self-confident, and dont NEED anybody, thats when they flock to you. A "needy" person is not attractive to anyone. Find ways to stay busy at night, find hobbies, get passionate about something (not someone) - be an "interesting" person, be someone YOU would want to be with. Love can be fleeting, but your stuck with yourself forever. Better learn to like that person.

Learn to love yourself, dogs also help in my opinion. Good luck also remember people can be lonely even when they have someone special that is even worse.

It takes effort on your part...and sometimes it's not easy.

Call or e-mail friends.....start a journal or a hobby....read books that you've been putting off....start a personal program to improve how you look.

Loneliness comes and goes...so just remember that nothing stays the same forever.

Sometimes I just mope around untell I'm tired of moping around and I have to stop, or you could listen to happy music, or take sleeping pills to make you fall asleep faster so you don't think about it
