Not just betwenn cats, but between all land animals.
A Cheetah can run up to 65 miles an hour, but they are not endurance runners and get tired very fast.

The cheetah's the fastest kitty. Coming in next are galloping horses and sprinting greyhounds and whippets, which run at about 45-close to 50 mph.
But most other cats don't sprint after their prey like cheetahs. That's why they're the only cat with non-retractable claws, so they can turn quickly and maintain their grip.
You oughta check out the Nature thing on PBS about the top five cats--they have some absolutely unreal footage of cheetahs hunting. Except it's real. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it. They probably have some stuff about it on the PBS site somewhere.

It is the fastest land animal.
The cheetah's flexible spine, oversized liver, enlarged heart, wide nostrils, increased lung capacity, and thin muscular body make this cat the swiftest hunter in Africa. Covering 7-8 meters in a stride, with only one foot touching the ground at a time, the cheetah can reach a speed of 110 km/h in seconds. At two points in the stride, no feet touch the ground.

They are all correct who say it is the fastest mammal. It is not the fastest creature though. Some birds are believed to fly even faster (surprisingly the humble pigeon) and of course the birds of prey - eagles and condors etc go an incredible speed when they drop to their prey.

No - my 10 year old tabby cat is - when the dog from number 17 down the road gets out and chases the poor sod!
And yes - he certainly IS a wildcat.
You'd also be wild if a dog wanted to eat you!
