As we all know pot is illegal in most of the united states. The law is outdated and has never been used the way it was intended (believe it or not it was made illegal to get rid of migrant mexican laborers during the great depression). The question today is should we legalize and control it (this is my choice, it is a good economic decision), decriminalize it (worst thing you can do, puts control in the wrong hands and leaves them completely unchecked), or leave it illegal (this is not working half of america uses it and it has became a neusance law).

Completely legalize it. I've always believed that one should be able to exercise absolute sovereignty over one's own mind and body.

Yes. It should. There is no substance to an argument for keeping it illegal. It isn't any more dangerous than substances that are currently legal and less dangerous than some. It also is not as addictive as substances that are legal, including caffeine, which people consume every single day. Marijuana should only be sold to adults, however, since it causes learning problems for teenagers. They don't cause permanent damage, but temporarily make learning more difficult. This and one study about smoking marijuana and driving are the only negatives I've heard of. There could be laws against getting high and driving just like for drinking and driving though. There is no good reason to just make it completely illegal.

I puffed my head off during the good old days at the university. Stayed in a nice little haze. Managed to get good grades, graduate with a couple of degrees, and become a fairly responsible working adult. Legalize it and control it. Do I want my police officers hunting down people like me, or the creep that recently kidnapped a young boy while he still had a young teen for four years?? I really do think many people In The Know in our state and federal governments would like it legalized. But, the logistics of the control issue becomes mired in debate. Just like the days of alcohol prohibition, the mere mention will throw more fuel on a smoldering fire. Rational heads do not always prevail.

it should definatly be decriminalized

there are arguements for it being legal that I can understand. I think however the economic benefits can't be ignored. and we can also stop terrorism and drug trafficing since people could obtain it from a legal business.

and people wouldn't be allowed to grow their own- same like we can't brew out own liquor. do people get away with it? sometimes. but is it easy to hide full grown marijuana plants that have a strong smell? no

this will also help the hemp business because more people will invest in it since there is no fear of the illegal use of the cannibas bi-product marijuana

You are quite right that lots of people use marijuana - it is not as harmful as most other substances - the use of it alone will not kill a person. Alcohol on the other hand is a poison and its use to an extreme can kill you.Crack and cocaine can kill you, Heroin can kill you. Many prescription drugs and over the counter medicines can kill you. People have had their children taken from them for its use. It is utterly ridiculous , legalize it for people over the age of 21 .

Also I am not saying that it does not have negative impacts , it can cause anxiety and paranoia in some people but the laws against it are overkill.

I say yes. Take a look at the difference between smoking pot and getting drunk....there is a lot of difference, being drunk is much worse imparing your functioning. Another thing I am so much against is, here in NY state, most employers require a drug test before hiring. They will test for marijuana, but whos to say they aren't hiring a drunk???? So not fair! I don't dare to smoke anymore for fear my work will pull a surprize drug test, and I cannot afford to lose my job.

Legalize it and allow entrepreneurs to use it for the many many uses it affords us; for fiber, fuel, paper, and chemicals and medicines.

Shortly after they passed the legislation prohibiting the distribution of cannabis, they passed legislation making its cultivation mandatory for the duration of the second World War.

And it didn't have much to do with the Mexicans, it was darker than that. It was mostly around getting acceptance for the new patents that were coming out for toxic and expensive products such as Nylon and Gasoline and wood-pulp paper treated with dioxin, in place of the renewable hemp-based products that hed been used until then.

legalize it and control it.

you're right about its original illegalization(i thought it was really funny when i first heard it)

to legalize it would have only good, pure stuff. it wouldnt be laced with crap like it is now.

in its pure state, it isnt addictive. and it helps when people have serious injuries.

it would take down the black market druggys for some part.

I do not use it but I do know some people that do. I think it should be legalized. To me it is dumb for someone to go to jail for weed. Leave the jails for people that really deserve it they are over crowded as it is!!!! I think weed can be a medical benefit if the govt would allow it!!! It has been proven to help people that have to take cancer treatment!!!! My opinion!!!!!

People think it is a gateway drug that is just crazy!!!! Alcohol is more of a gateway drug than weed!!!!

Decriminalized at the very least, making criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens should not be a government objective.
