I think eye liner can really enhance the look of your eyes, but too much can make anyone look cheap. I usually only put a thin line above my top lashes and/or on the outer skin of the bottom lid (right above the eye lash line) it makes it look more natural but makes a huge difference and brings them out big time. So don't go overboard but if you want to make a statement use it! Also try a differnt shade of eyeliner, maybe instead of black use a dark or light brown....just an idea! Have fun!

Your sister is entitled to her opinion about makeup and to follow it as she sees fit, but the fact that she's insulting you about something that is your own decision is pretty low. Everyone has different styles, but I'm sick of people who want to go all natural sticking up their noses at people who do wear makeup. I don't think there's ANYthing wrong with some eyeliner, especially just the little above the eyes that you describe. It's not cheap as long as it's a defined or smudged line and not caked through your lid. Tell your sister that she doesn't have to use makeup if she doesn't want to, but that the fact that she has to insult her own sibling to feel better about it is just dumb.

All I use is some on the top along the lash line. I don't put any on the bottom because I am an athlete and it smears and makes me look like a raccoon. I think just eye liner on the top and mascara looks fine.

Really, it depends on what kind of eyes you have. If you have almond shaped eyes, you should either just stick with mascara or wear it only on the top lid, otherwise you might look like a corpse. If you have more round eyes, you can wear it on the bottom, but not too much. I have eyes that are kind of in the middle, so I only wear it on the top lid on most days. If I'm going somewhere fancy I wear it on both lids, just a dab!

if you look like a racoon! my aunt is a cosmetologist and she says only line the bottom half way UNDER and not on the wet part of your eye...i always had dark eyeliner on and (my aunt is very sarcastic) my aunt would always be like ' oh no!! a racoon' or 'oh no a burglar' so i took her advice and lined from where the eyelashes stopped and started on top and half way on the bottom......it didnt look good on me (or maybe i didnt do it right...) but i stopped doing that and found other techniques....this probably isnt what you were looking for but i told you anyways.....

depends on the color. if it's black or dark dakr brown, then keep it thin line, and dont smudge. if it's a lighter brown, or a charcoal-gray-ish color, then smudge some so it looks smoky, but don't cover ur entire lid w/it. go very VERY little on bright colors like orange, sea green, or baby blue. for jeweled tones like dark blue, emerald-ish, and red, go light.
i personally use eyeliner on both top and bottom cuz my bottom lashes are kinda light and u cant really see them that well, plus i use gray-ish so it's not way dark and cheap-looking.

Eyeliner on top and not bottom? PERFECT. And keep it in the brown family of color, don't go dark black and not heavy. Keep it very close to your lash line, keep it natural...sounds like your sister is jealous of your (better) looks!

you know what they say less is more. Especially if its makeup putting a very thin line on your lower lids and if you want to do it a bit thicker on top use liquid it looks a lot nicer because pencils smudge.
