I think if someone called me Ma'am, I'd feel old. I'm only 17, so that's pretty strange. Lol, Madam might be okay if it's in a nice restaurant or something. Ma'am annoys me more, it sounds like an old western cowboy-type thing.

i'm 26, single, lady and stay in North Carolina and Florida. truthfully i'm high quality with being suggested as ma'am. It became particularly a marvel the 1st time somebody suggested as me that yet i've got easily grown to no longer strategies it. i'm getting suggested as the two omit and Ma'am. those that are older tend to assert i'm a omit and youthful boys tend to assert ma'am. young women do no longer tend to assert the two. I savour the honour from youthful boys while they say ma'am. Its no longer an insult to them or that i glance old yet that they are showing some admire. a chum of mine in college continuously suggested ma'am to us ladies even however we've been the comparable age. returned no longer an insult yet out of admire for us. I enjoyed that approximately him and it continuously made me smile. perhaps it has something to do with the place you reside and how advantageous you're on your age or if its a huge subject to you. i like the old school experience of it and the respect and admire that are meant by using it.

I always take notice to Ma'am. But the first time I was called that instead of Miss - I was so insulted! I had always been called Miss, then suddenly it went to Ma'am and I wondered if it was wrinkles, grey hair or what?!
LOL! But no - I am not insulted. I'd rather someone say that than, "Hey, you~"

You just accept it and go on with whatever is happening ... unless it comes with extra meaning....
for example, if someone called me "Sir" I would take notice... because I am not a man! I would think they were trying to tell me something!!!!
Maybe that my actions were a little bold for a woman!

two things happen here one is you get respect and two it may have occured for the other person own respect to back off and rejudge what is occurring with u~it is a time space of words, it is something when people say~i didn't know that?~it give implied perception of more to come that doesn't or if it does it concepts need to have the air space of dignity to undermine u with the next piece of frame work to your lingo

well I think in places like fast food establishments some people do it to everyone. It is like a way of being polite in a fast way. One lady the other day was like saying that to everyone, young or old.

I feel a bit uncomfortable. Some of my son's friends used to call me Mr ..., and I had to ask them to stop.

On the other hand, I am quite happy using it at a rugby match, because it is traditional.
