Find out his favorite imported beer or spirits and buy him a bottle or a case of it. If he is a cigar smoker, a premium cigar such as a Fuente, Cohiba (they have Dominican ones) or a Maccanudo (probably didn't spell that right). Also, think accessories for same, a stein, or a set of cognac glasses if he likes Courvoiser...a cigar cutter....something like that.
If he doesn't drink or smoke...look to the hobbies...a guy who likes tools...get him a gift certificate to Home Depot or Lowes in a nice card..or if he likes fishing or golf...gift certificates for equipment or give him a day of golf by paying for greens fees, or a gift certificate to a sports store like Champs, or Footlocker...etc.

if he's a builder, get him a power tool. if he's a gadget guy get him the coolest new techie gift (within your budget). If you don't have a budget, buy him a car.
