I am a 17 year old sixth form student who wants the best university experience possible.
Currently i have been accepted to the following universities:
Glasgow Uni, Sheffield Uni, Manchester Uni, Salford Uni, Liverpool Uni and Liverpool John Moores Uni.
I live equally close to both Manchester and Liverpool so there is no doubt in my mind that both of these cities are rich in music, art and all things cultural. However i have very little anecdotal knowledge about my other choices; only publicated information supplied by each specific university. My only fear is that my chosen university does not live up to the hype.
I intend to live for 3 years - possibly more in one of these cities; any advice, good or bad would be appreciated.

Sheffield is a fantastic university for social life and night life, but it's a pretty ugly city, and unless you are extremely self-motivated, you may find that you don't do very well. The staff take very little personal interest in you (probably due to the size of the uni and the number of students per subject) and I personally found the teaching awful - I barely understood a word they said, although I did well in A-levels. There are also not nearly enough books in the library so your work will suffer unless you are willing to shell out on alot of books.
I loved every minute of being there as it's a very friendly uni and the halls I was in were brilliant.... but I dropped out after a year and a half due to the abysmal teaching and lack of facilities

I would highly recommend Liverpool as a university city I went to Liverpool Hope University and had a great time, its a brilliant university city and really welcoming plus whats handy is its not as big as you imagine so everything is quite compact, i would say go to tLiverpool not John Moores but that is from a deep hatred of john Moores as they were our fierce rivals, but at the same time Liverpool is better that JMU so if u can get into both you may as well got for the better one!
Similarily I have firends who have been to Man and sheff and they liked it but i do think liverpool is the best simply becuse its not too big it is very welcoming and its not too intimidating whereas my firends in man said it took a long while to settle in cos it was so big!
I can guarentee you you would enjojy liverpool.

Hiya, I'd personally go to Glasgow 'Capital of Culture', I was accepted their to do Art History. It's a beautiful city and the student life is excellent. But if you'd be happier attending a university closer to home I'd favour Liverpool University over Manchester, as it's a safer city.

I live in the USA so I am not too qualified to answer this, but I would say go to Manchester Uni. I have been to that city and it is great and I think it will give you a great all-round educational experience.

You won't know for sure until you get there, but largely it will be down to you - you'll get out as much as you put in.
Go to their open days and talk to students who are already there.
