Why are there more right-handed people than the left-handed? Is it genetic or it's just unexplainable?

Haha.. I believe my question was "Why there's more right-handed people" and not "what is your dominant hand".

I would love to hear experts explain about it because even my beloved wikipedia is dumbfounded.

You could be right with it just being genetic. Right handedness could be the dominate gene where as left handedness is ressesive. Just as Brown eyes are dominate to green or blue. Also it could have something do with brain hemispheres. It is a fact that your left brain hemisphere controlls the right side of your body, and your right hemisphere controlls your left. For most people, the left hemisphere controls language and reading and suchk where the right hemisphere controls creativity such as art and music. So since language and reading is used more, the left brain could be more conditioned which would explain why most people are right handed. Then for some people, thier right hemisphere controls skills such as reading and language and would make them left handed. But the tricky part is that there are still people with a left hemisphere for language and still they are left handed and vice versa. There is really no solid answer, just ideas. Another possiblility, is that parents encourage thier kids to be right handed. if you practice something enough it will feel natural. So parents may teach thier kids to do everything right handed so it would be easier to buy sports equipment and such.

That is a good question. I believe that about 85% of the population is right handed. I don't know why.

eh.. I'm left handed... In the past, during witch hunting times, people generally thought of left handed people as cohorts of the devil... It could be genitic. My mother switched, she's now right handed.

I would not neccessarily say they dominate, since it's awkward how many left-handers end up in positions of leadership. But they (right handers) are the most abundant, that is true.
I believe left-handers are not of this world....
