If you understood how evolution actually works, you would be embarrassed about asking this question!!
Monkeys and man share a common ancestor, a monkey-type creature, and somewhere along the way, there was a few mutations in the breeding of this creature, so that there were some differences in the offspring. Those differences were carried into subsequent generations, passed on, and then there'd be a few more mutations over thousands of years. And so on to the point where a few whole new species developed.

Your question is like saying if chiuauas and great danes evolved from wolves, how come we still have wolves? And how can a tiny dog be of the same genus as a huge dog. It's all down to genetic mutations, adaptations, natural selection and survival of the fittest.

i had answer a same question before and the answer still the same.

keeping evolution in mind,

If we already tv, why still have radio?
we already have computer, why still need tv?

even human and monkey apes evolve from same ancester, we are in different evolution line, meaning we evolve seperatedly, kinda like a family tree thingy.

moreover, monkey and human havwe different niche, means different role in nature, wont interefere with each other(except when u feel like eating monkey, which some in my state do), they wont extinct.they are inteligent as well.

if u think that monkey should not still exist, then many other animals would have gone using the same principle. the only animals left would the those evolved the last.

if u say monkey

Imagine a tree, start at the base of the trunk, imagine that represents the evolutionary path of the common ancestor we share with primates. Now follow the trunk up to where it splits into many branches and trace the path of one branch to its end.. now start over and follow another branch to its end there are many branches and each one leads to a different conclusion. Imagine each branch is a different evolutionary path that our common ancestors split up and followed. Just because some followed different paths does not mean that others ceased to exist because of it. When one branch grows, do all the other branches fall off and die? the answer is no! and it is the same thing with primates, we all split up and followed different paths.. the path our ancestors followed led to the humans of today, the path another group of our ancestors followed led to the chimpanzees of today, another led to gorillas, etc etc We all split up and followed different paths and we all arrived at different conclusions, one does not cancel out the other.

You might as well ask... If dogs evolved from wild wolves then why are there still wolves? it is obviously because not all wolves were domesticated so not all wolves evolved into dogs.. they all took a different path to get where they are today... the wolves we took into our civilisation evolved into the dogs of today, the wolves that were left behind evolved into all the current subspecies of wolves today. Just because one population of wolves evolved into dogs did not make the other populations of wolves around the world disappear.

Probably the most common question asked on here after "Why is the sky blue".

The answer is simple, but twofold.
Firstly, we didn't evolve from monkeys
Secondly, sub-populations evolve, often in some physical isolation, not the whole population.

We didn't evolve from monkeys or apes. We have common ancestor.
