My mom said I was becoming a hermit because her and my dad asked me to go to grocery store and I told her I was just going to chill around the house. Now given the fact that I am a homebody, but I don't see any point in going to grocery store or anywhere unless I have to. Last weekend I went on family trip, and then weekend before that I spent a few hours out shopping. I do go out and do stuff, but I love staying home. But I'm just the type that doesn't like to go out and "shop". If I know I need something, I go out and get it and come right back home. I go out to eat with family, and sometimes I will go "shop" with them. But isn't a hermit someone that never leaves the house? I surely am not becoming that am I?

A hermit is a person who withdraws from society, shunning company for a solitary existence. Another name for it is ‘recluse’ Howard Huge is a very famous example of a modern day rich hermit. A hermit does not have to be out in a cave all by them selves, in the Middle Ages the Catholic Church use to build building called ‘hermitages’ which was inhabited by a group of hermits for religious proposes.

There is a psychological condition call agoraphobia where the afflicted have an abnormal fear of open or public places. If this is the reason for your reluctance to go out among ‘em, maybe you should consider some therapy. Now you just have to ask yourself is the cause of this my fear, or is it because I just like it here better. If it is the later don’t let it grow into the former.

you are not a hermit you just prefer to stay at home. your just more comfortable in your home rather than outside it.

not going out and shopping with your parents doesnt make you a hermit.

a hermit (to me) is an older person that lives in a small house away from people who does not like to ever leave their house except to get essential items. They dont bother to be social to anyone. they live in solitude.
you have friends right?

No, you're not a "hermit". From the sounds of it, you're an introverted person. Nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately society just places a greater value on extroverted types. I wouldn't worry about it. I'd suggest doing a search on " Introvert ". The info might help you understand things better.* Btw, here's a great page for introvert info :http://www.learningplaceonline.com/relationships/friends/caring-introvert.htm*

If your old enough you probably should have a job and quit sponging off of your parent's . That would get you out of the house. If your still a youngun then you probably have nothing to worry about. You'll soon discover girls are or other guy's are more fun than staying at home.

No, you are not a hermit. I don't like shopping either and would almost rather a kick in the butt I just don't like shopping. My wife loves it. I really can't understand her she loves to shop, but I can't seem to get her to hunting with me

You're not a hermit. You're a homebody. Nothing wrong with that. My father was one too. He never even drove a car in his life.

Don't worry, I feel the same way. I feel like there is nothing better than sitting in front of my TV with a blanket culed up in a couch with my dog at my side =D

LET YOUR PARENTS SAY WHAT THEY WANT ! and then just ignore it! because you know what is good for you! and being a hermit isn't the end of the world! every one has their own believes, and what is good for one might not be good for another!
