The Simpsons?

Dont know much about them and I have to write a 3paragraph on why they have been on for so long? Any answers would greatly be appreciated!!!!!!

I think there are a few reasons...

1) They are funny! They poke fun at themselves and aren't afraid to poke fun at others...

2) They get tons of guest stars, but don't rely on guests to boost ratings.

3) They are animated, so you never have to worry about characters getting older... It also makes for limitless options for storylines.

I also think their popularity is universal, which doesn't hurt their chances for staying on the air. If you go to other countries, you see TONS of Simpsons toys and other things... they make huge money through licensing.

The Simpsons hit TV at a time when a nervous America needed a release from it's tensions. We were commning to grips with AIDS, slowly knowing more about it, we were on the "simmer-down" from the Regan era and subsequent cold-war.

And The Simpsons made on-target humor and parodic fun at social issues that SCREAMED AND BEGGED to be made fun of. Clever and very carefully measured use of crude humor made Bart and Homer pop culture icons.

The Simpsons also well adapted to society's ever evolving social mores and cultural fads, so they're just as funny today--as they were in the late 80's--fast approaching 20 years strong!!

i cant do reaserch for you, but look it up on wikipedia, scince the simpsons are such a well known T. V show, i found literally dozens of pages about the show, the characters, the show's history, the writers and other stuff. you know, theres even an article about how no one knows where springfield is.

Because they were basically the first cartoon sitcom to be succesful.
