James Watts is one of several people that have been credited with the invention of the steam ENGINE.
Hero, an ancient Greek, from Alexandria, wrote about a steam powered device 2100 years ago. This is the earliest mention of steam POWER.

Because Boulton and Watt were the big name company of the time. A bit like Hoover has become the household name for vacuum cleaner. Lots of misnomers like this have occurred because they get repeated time and time again. Stephenson didn't invent the steam locomotive. Rocket wasn't the first locomotive. And Russia or America weren't the first to put an object into space. But people believe it because its all they've been told.

he did and what happen was we got the steam ship and the trains. witch is alot like the Internet on a smaller scale. it opened communications from coast to coast and made it alot easyer to trade and sell stuff. it really opened up the west in the states
