it gets that far but then there are not any directories listed. When I test it locally it works fine, but when I try and do it remotly it doesn't work. Well it connects.. but nothing happens. Any ideas?

OH I am using VSFTPD server

I had the same problem with some of my users on my windows based FTP server, do you have a home directory specified for the user your tiring to log on as?
