In 1871 Canada was much the same as it is today, with the exception of Newfoundland, which did not become part of the Dominion of Canada until 1949, and the division of the Yukon and NW Territories.
Given that the territories were still intact, they were likely the largest area in Canada, but to check that you you would have google up the square mileage of each province and compare it to the territories. Ontario might have been the largest if you include the lake, along with the land area. Sorry not to be more definite, but it's a question fraught with 'ifs'.
