i ve been employed there for 7 yrs. no problems till now. last 9 months have been hell.
a lady i work with is too touchy feely, huggy , mushy, she tells me she loves me, but as a sister. shes really embarrassing.
then if iam waiting on a male customer ( he could even be 90 yrs old) many times she will come up behind me in front of him & say:
ok, stop flirting!!
she irritates me sooo bad.
ive written to her & told her how i feel.
she is overly affectionate.
iam not saying its sexual harrasement? but what can it be defined as??
i dont want to work when she works.
we are both married and i know iam 100% straight.
shes like a little kid or ...i cant explain it. my boss knows, she irritates other co-workers as well but no one tells her except for me!!!
any suggestions??

Step 1 - Give her "feedback"...face to face in private. "Marge, I appreciate it that you like me and want to be friends and I welcome that. But I DO NOT appreciate or welcome displays of affection at work. At work, I welcome your coorperation, support, respect and professionalism, but I am VERY UNCOMFORTABLE with the huggy, mushy touching and language. It's embarrassing, distracting and unprofessional. I'm asking you to CEASE this behavior at work, so I can focus on doing a good job. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? Can I count on you for this? It's important, because I can't tolerate it. To me, this is sexual harrassment.f You don't stop, I'm going to have to inform the boss that either she does something about it or I get upper management involved."

Step 2. Expect a good faith effort, but not perfection. If she forgets and does it again, take her aside and remind her how important it is.

Step 3. If she can't or won't change her behavior, go to your boss and tell her that you are the victim of unwelcome displays of affection and unprofessional behavior. Tell her you've given the person direct feedback already, to no avail. Tell her you want to be a team contributor and high performer, but this is distracting and unacceptable behavior. Ask the boss what she is going to do about it. Tell her that if she can't fix the situation, you will file a sexual harrassment suit and report the situation to the President.

Step 4. If your boss lets you down, find a personnel or personal injury lawyer and follow through with a lawsuit.

Tip: Make a precise log or journal of the problem behavior and what you said and did and when. You may be glad you have the facts of the matter some day.

Get your fellow co workers to go with you to the boss. confront the woman and say "hey, your making me feel like your coming on to me. Please stop." Then tell your boss if something is not done you will file a harassment suit and site the lack of management intervention.
