I'm living in the Czech Republic at the moment and I saw a black bodied bird with the body shape of a crow, and the unmistakable head (I saw it in profile) of a pigeon. It was no further than ten feet from me when I saw it. There were a number of crows around it as they were doing their hunting and gathering thing. You know, a bird up on a high perch and the others doing the gathering. I simply don't know if this sort of thing is even possible, but I'm pretty sure of what I saw. Can anyone help?

I assume it was approx. the size of a crow -- or slightly smaller?
The only corvid with a light weight beak is the Alpine Chough. Beak is bright yellow, legs and feet bright red. Body, black like a crow. Ranges throughout southern Europe.

Unless you saw a color variation of a Rock Dove, there are no black pigeons in Europe.

Hope this helped.

No, a pigeon and a crow cannot crossbred. These birds are not even in the same genus. Some very closely related birds can interbreed such as two types of warbler. Not sure what you saw.
