Depending on what it is you have to get a model made of it for display. Put your name, date and all information for this in writing and have it notarized. This way if anyone copies it you can have proof of being the original. I also have something in the works but it is a long process and can be very expensive. I left mine in the hands of a friend who sent it to California to get a model made. I don't even mind if they patent it so they can pay all the expenses, Just send me a royalty check. Check out the web pages on inventions, there is one called "Invent It" but they called me day and night and I did not feel comfortable with them. Read the fine print on anything you get as there is always money involved for them to do the legwork and legals. I found it too much of a hassle. Good luck

ok sketch it out and type and print out at least 2 pages of it and keep one for your self
ok once its sketched out and typed, you send the picture of what you product will look like (a side picture and a top veiw picture) then send it to a company
example: if i made a new electronic toy design for children i would follow my instructions and send it to tiger
but it depends what it is so send it to the company that you want to make your design and they should mail you back if they accept or not

this may not be completely right but i think it is
good luck!

you make it
then test it
and if you think it could potentially get some money you try selling/ giving it to your friends
and if they like it you patent it and sell it in your community and then get bigger
