Girls have been starting earlier and earlier. Studies over the last 20 years suggest that women are reaching maturity at an alarmingly earlier rate. They contribute hormones in our milk and meats as a factor. Ages ago, women hit puberty at a much earlier age as well which is why women were married off at 10 and 12 years old were having their first children. I have a couple of girlfriends who's daughters started at the ages between 8-10.

My oldest daughter started 2 days after she turned 10! I was devistated! That's too young! Anyways, a good sign is the breast starting first. Don't want to go into too much detail or they will delete my answer. But you know what that looks like. That's what happened with her anyways. My youngest in now 11, and has the breasts starting, but nothing else yet! Thank goodness!

Well, actually, the average ages are between 9 and 16, and she is 8, don't fret. I started discharging and having symptoms of starting my period 1 1/2 years before I actually started. I wouldn't worry.

Fixing her period?

No, she is much too young. Though, rare cases may partake, in general, she shouldn't start until she hits her teens.

I agree with the others.....that's a little young......but I'm sure it's happened before. You may want to consider bring her to a doctor. Best of luck to you.
