If your question is can you name your offensive coordinator as your head coach, the answer is yes. This has been done several time in the NFL. Offensive coordinators have been interviewed for head coaching jobs regularly. It is not uncommon for them to get the job.

I've never played Head Coach but that doesnt make sense, cause arent you the head coach, so if you promoted them to be head coach, you wouldnt be head coach anymore.
