The Irish game is Hurling and is played with a stick or "hurley" or in the Irish language it is called a camán. The ball or "sliothar" is similar in size to a hockey ball but has raised ridges.
Camogie is a women's version of Hurling, it is played with a lighter ball and there are a few different rules to the game.
You can read about both games at the sites below;

HURLING
The object of the game is for players to use a wooden axe-shaped stick called a hurley to hit a small ball between the opponents' goalposts either over the crossbar for one point, or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points.
