My husband and I are waiting to have sex at my six week mark and he is getting really irritated and unpleasant about the whole thing. He has a very very strong sex drive and I just wanted to know how other moms dealt with this.

You have to wait. Nobody ever told me when I had my first that the reason you had to wait was so you could be put on birth control if you wanted at your 6 week check up. So, we didn't wait the first time and when I went for my check up, they wanted me to wait 2 more weeks and take a pregnancy test. This didn't sit well with my husband, who also has a strong sex drive. Needless to say, I ended up getting pregnant again. This time, we did wait the six weeks. He got irritated too, so I had to resort to other sexual forms of pleasure. I did some things that I wouldn't normally do, but it kept him happy.

How long you wait to have sex depends on how you feel and how much pain it causes. Some people only wait a week, some more. If you feel like you are ready it is fine. If you are breastfeeding don't buy into the myth that you can't get pregnant while doing so. You definitely can! I only tell you this because I am one of those who believed it and, voila, got another little one!!! Anyway, how long you wait depends on you. I never waited 6 weeks, probably less than 2 and everything was just fine. No worries about the sex, but I would think twice about no protection unless you want another one in 10 months!

My husband is also waiting for that. Men just get really horny we they haven't had it from the women they love in a while. It's just they way they are, but you have to explain to him that it's for your health that you wait. You don't have to wait 6 weeks just until your bleeding and pains stop, and/or your doctor/nurse says it's okay. My husband and I have to wait longer because I haven't finished healing at six weeks, but it's worth it. Plus the sex is better after you haven't had any in a while.

My wife and I always made it to the 2-2 1/2 week mark, then went to it like rabbits. Somewhere down the line, she would have a D&C if anything became eroded...no big deal. 6 weeks! are you kidding?????

I would just ignore it....even though it's hard. Tell him ONCE that the answer is no right now and that you don't want to have sex until 6 weeks comes by. That's all you can say is no, and to ignore it.

You have to hold off due to medical circumstances. . . But that doesn't prevent you or give you permission to not satisfy your spouse. There's other ways that he can be satisfied. Seek him for advise on what all he likes, if you're in the dark.

I promise I'm not being vulgar, but have you tried alternatives, such as oral sex or manual stimulation? It's not the same thing, but it might be a decent compromise.

Well, you just help each other out together in other ways. Sometimes other stuff than intercourse is pretty fun and interesting, c'mon....

Tell him he'll cause internal bleeding if you have sex so soon after giving birth and you'll die or become infertile.
