We can't run out of water (it's hydrogen & oxygen...matter doesn't disappear), the question is whether we will run out of potable, usable water.

I was told by a teacher once that there is the same amount of water on Earth that there was when the world first began because water can't just be gone. It's here on Earth in some way or form from lakes and oceans to the sky to in our bodies. For example when you drink water it comes out of your body sooner or later and goes into a lake which could then come back out of your faucet again. Not to be disgusting... I mean it is sterilized.

So NO we will never run out of water!!

The hydrologic cycle should provide us with new fresh water, but we may use and pollute it faster than the process can provide it to us. Small amounts of chemical waste can pollute enourmous amounts of water. Also, aquifers contain clean water that has been filtered by percolation through the soil...if the soil is contaminated..it will no longer clean our water for us. If we run out of "ready-to-drink" water, we can filter, boil, evaporate sea water......and obtain it other ways: but this is VERY expensive..and most of us now consider water a free resource that we have unlimited rights to.

if the sun blew up, over a long period of time we would run out of water because the sun keeps the water going in a cycle, when it isnt evaporating and falling back to earth, we'll just use it all up, and run out.

Water can never run out because it is an on going process with evaporation, condensation...so on and so forth.
