Each has its ups and downs. I've lived in a relatively small town, and I've lived in Seattle. I think what I like best is a place that feels small, but it is close to a big city. I found that in Kenmore , WA. I enjoyed the slower pace and the small town feel, but Seattle was just a 15 minute drive away.

Stay out of the burbs, its a deathtrap!

I would probably prefer living outside a city in a more rural type setting.
