Seriously, I would just have the Iraqi police and armed forces and U.S. soldiers evacuate themselves and all of the civilians to Israel and the other ally countries we have in the Middle East, and then do to all of Iraq what we did to some of Japan in 1942.
Of course, this strategy would have to have been in the works for years before Iran actually invaded in order for it to work.

I would let the Iraqi "security forces" that Bush used has spent the last four years "training" at a cost of hundreds of billions of dollars fight them off. Remember how much he used to brag about them a few years ago while promising that the troops would be able to start coming home, always "in the next 3 to 6 months". Well here we are 4 years later and Bush is still peddling that same "3 to 6 more months" story and the feebs are still buying it.

Why would Iran want to forcefully invade Iraq? They seem to be doing quite well with their current covert invasion.
As for your hypothetical scenario, I believe that is inevitable. Syria and Iran will carve Iraq up into their own personal spheres of influence. The United States is only preventing these nations from gaining that influence in a straight forward manner, but Iran, specifically, is content to work from within to gain their objectives.

Because of our Iraq control we would already be at a defacto state of war. The declaration of war would be the first step into Iraqi sovergn territory by a Iranian.

I don't know if there would be much to do... out forces would pretty much destroy them as they made the attempt....
they can't really hold a candle to us...
I don't know if I would send troops into Iran though... but I would probably drop several hundred tons of explosives on them for making the attempt...

I would have tried to halt the invasion. But since Iran doesn't invade Iraq, US troops should leave Iraq.

It would be a dream come true for the US. Iran would be hammered into the sand. Iran is not that stupid, they fight by proxy. We just need to do the same.

Iran has been invading Iraq since 2003. We are handling it.
They were called insurgents, but now Iran is calling them diplomats and secretaries.

attack anyone who attacks our troops. cut off all trade with them and ask our allies to file suit. try and talk them out of full blown war and keep it a defensive not offensive/aggressive approach

Iran is already causing most of the hell in Iraq. We just have to keep fighting, and killing the terrorists. Personally, I think we should nuke Iran. PROBLEM SOLVED.
