If white people had WHite Entertainment television there would be an uproar, but NOPE not for black people. Society is messed up. Were oversensitive to black people and other racism when in fact white people get discrimanted just as much. Jus fyi I am black so dont none of yll call me a racist. I don't understand it either, and it makes me angry, too. Like the other day, I was watching Bernie Mac, when the little boy gets his first girlfriend, and Aunt Wanda holds her hands over her mouth and says 'Oh my God, she isn't white, is she?'. What would happen if a white guy said that about his daughter dating? "Oh my God, he isn't black, is he?".
It's bull. I dont' understand why I have to cater to black people. I dont' understand why I get evil looks when I hold a door open for a black woman. Whatever happened to saying 'thankyou'? It's stupid, and it's not right.

In all and all people need a place. Things are not targeted to just you, they are on sterotypes. For sterotypes to be true they had to come from somewhere...don't cry over spilled milk. No one would have an uproar if there was a white entertainment television; in all the channel would be to scrambled and re-imaged, there are only so many degrees of a race. People are people! Even you...you are a part of society has long has you do your part not to do what you are against then your just helping out your cause even more, no matter how pro and con people are.

You're right, blacks have BET, but whites have the rest of the other channels. What I don't understand is that why do white people want to have the right to call blacks the N word. You see them ask that kind of question here on Yahoo Answers. And what are you so worried about? At least blacks and whites have their own channels, I don't see channels for Indians, Asians, and other minorities and you don't see us complaining. Blacks vs Whites and vice versa needs to stop.
I agree with Kimberly. Why don't we call whites "European Americans" but we call other people African American, Asian American...etc?
Oh and another thing, Blacks need to stop using the race card. Not every thinking or reason can be called racism.

I've got a better idea - Reality show called "The Island":
All the America's aggressive religious people, racists etc. are placed on the island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for the unlimited period of time. That's all.

Well considering that the rest of the channels on TV are directed at a white audience, except for a few.... I don't mind BET. However the content of BET should be more positive and stop revolving around gangtas and hoochies. It creates a bad image.

White people are not sensitive to black people. Black people are just overly sensitive to themselves. I don't know what to say to a black person for fear of being taken the wrong way and being called a racist. My generation of white people did not do anything to the black community. I do not own slaves, I do not beat black people, I am not in the KKK, I have absolutely NO reason to judge or be judged! Why am I, as a white person in general, still being blamed for what our white ancestors did? I just don't get it!
Black people-not all black people- think they are "entitled". Plain and simple.

The problem is we are trying to be color blind. I thought in America we celebrated differences, but in the racial issues we just try to ignore that being different is OK.
To Kimberly down at the bottom. People do call themselves German-American even when their families have lived in American for a century. In my area people haven't mixed, in general, with other ethnicities so people still identify with their heritage a.k.a. very un-American food, but it's good.

That's a good point. But another thing I don't get is why does everyone call black people "African American"? Most black people aren't from Africa, so they're just American. If a white person is German, even if they were born in America, they don't call them "German American".
