attitude. A waiter is there to just bring your food and see what else you need. A server is there to get your food, refills, take your payment if needed. Help you through your experience.

One of the biggest things I remember hearing from a boss I had. He would tell the servers that they were not order takers, they were to help the guest by suggesting drinks, specials, desserts. That way the guest felt that they were being helped with their decision. It also would help the server get tips.

Server is the PC, non-gender specific term for waiter or waitress.

They are the same thing. I would rather be called a server than a waiter.

sometimes if you go to a restaurant and you don't have someone assigned to work at your table, there are a variety of people that bring the food, fill your drinks, etc. they would be considered a server...a waiter would be someone who is assigned to your table and is filling your needs. they are very similar though so the term is basically the same thing in some peoples minds.

It's this simple: "Waiter/Waitress" are the male/female terms for servers. "Server" is the generic term, applying to male or female. Nothing more to it!

a server is someone who shows you to a table or a booth, and a waiter (or waitress) would take your order and they bring you your food and beverages.

I THINK THAT A SERVER SITS THE PEOPLE OR PERSON DOWN WITH THERE MENUS WHAT HAVE YOU AND THE WORD WAITER SPEAKES FOR ITSELF ... THEY TAKE YOUR ORDER . THEY ALSO ARE THE LAST ONE YOU SEE THAT COMES TO GIVE YOUR TICKET TO PAY FOR THE MEAL.

well i guess servers work in a family at home or palace or something like that whilst the waiters work in a restaurant or any paid establisment.
