a "country" is determined by political status, not size
Greenland is owned by Denmark, and has never achieved(desired or not) independent status, therefore is not a country

Your answer is that size dosen't matter..being a "country" or political state is all about control and political structure..some are large, some are small. Greenland is an island (even if it became a country it would still be an island...this is it's physical geography) Also: concerning the size of greenland...many think it's larger than it is because of the map they use..many projections have great distortion near the poles.

Size of land mass has little to do w/ whether or not it's a country.
I'm guessing that not enough people have moved to and inhabited Greenland to make it an official country??

Hi. The Vatican is a country of only a little over a hundred acres. If it was surrounded by water it would be an island. : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenland
