There is no place like home.!
My grandma migrated in Canada in late 1960's where migration in not yet that popular..She has a mansion and lots of high end cards there..And now shes 80..retired and receiving a huge amount of pension from the Canadian government.she still wanted to go back here..
The reason?.. she dont wanna die a home for the aged..Because she know that her relatives here are gonna take care of her rather than persons not related to her..

Wow, many answers here. A couple I know just moved back from Florida to there. She is a Filipina and he a kano, about age 50. I asked her that same question, here is what she said.
We have been in the states for many years and are just tired of all the violence, especially the drugs and crime in Florida. Our retirement dollars go much further in the Philippines and we can have a safer and slower pace of life. Because most Filipinos have a strong sense of family ties and values, they more than any other Asian race will migrate back home it appears.

Filipino migrants especially senior citizens (60 years old and up) wanted to spend their old days in the Philippines because the culture here has more compassion for oldies, the weather is not cold not hot, and one can visit any tourist places in the country in any time of the year, plus the foods they are so exotic!

Best place to retire. First, your family won't put you in a nursing home if you're very old, lots of beaches, nice warm weather and the culture that will always be in the blood and soul of any Filipino anywhere in the world.

Ignore the ingnorant answers and know this: people get homesick, whether it is for family, friends, food or just the land where they were raised. I'm American and have been there 4 times and still get homesick to go there and see family and eat the good food and walk the white sand beaches at sunset with my lover. It can be a very enchanting place.

the primary reason of filipinos going overseas is to look for better economic compensation than what is available in the philippines. but they still remain to be filipinos in terms of culture, values and outlook. after twenty to thirty years of living overseas, filipinos come back to enjoy our unique culture that is not available in a foreign land.
