Do I need a dvi to dvi cable? Or do I need a DVI to HDMI cable?

I want to play a game on my 32inch LCD HDTV with my notebook computer. And have sound coming from the TV.

I can't seem to find the answer to this.

Thanks

You will have to do the video and sound separately. You can get an adapter cable to go from the DVI out on your laptop to the HDMI on your tv but that will only deliver picture.

You would also need to go from the sound output of your laptop to the audio in on the TV. An adapter with a stereo mini plug to RCA plugs should do it.

If your TV turns off the other sound sources when you plug in an HDMI plug, you could use a separate stereo system for sound.
