How to remove background?

Question

The thing is, I wanna print out an image onto a tshirt the color of which is gonna be orange. The whole picture I have has white background color and I need to remove the background as the edges would be the border of the pic. I've done it with the erase tool but it keeps me asking whether to save it with a background color although I had selected NO BACKGROUND when creating new image and then I imported the picture to be on the tshirt. Ironically, there is no a "NO" option. Certailny, there must be something that removes the background and keeps the picture there. I'm hopeless about that. Using Corel Draw and Photopaint 12. ps.
