I am trying to find out about how much weight I will loose 3-4 weeks after giving birth. Will I be about the size I am now? Should I buy my brides maid dress to fit now or wait??? This is our first baby so we have no idea what to expect. Any suggestions or tips would be great!!!! Thanks!!

I would wait- sorry- Everyone is different, so there is really no way to say how much you will lose right after.. I have seen women not lose much and I have seen others that went back to their pre-pregnancy weight just a few weeks after birth (LUCKY!)
You want to feel comfortable and look good in the dress, so I would wait-

Are you going to be breastfeeding? If so you will burn an extra 500 calories a day. Have you gained more than the recommended weight with this pregnancy? If not look for a dress that can be easily altered and expect to loose at least 15 - 20 lbs 3-4 weeks post delivery. Just remember early or late delivery may also affect this. Good Luck!

If you buy a maternity bridesmaid dress that fits you now at 6 months it should fit you postpartum. Don't plan on loosing a lot of weight immediately after the baby's born just to fit into your dress. Keep in mind also that first babies are often born after their estimated due date. So your baby could possibly be born up to two weeks after.

I was in a wedding when I was 6 months pregnant. I loved being in the wedding, but the dress was the most god-awful ugly thing I had ever seen in my life. I took it to Goodwill immediately after the wedding. The bride suggested moving the wedding date until after my daughter was born. I told her if she did that I would not be in her wedding. It's too much pressure for a new mom who should be concentrating on taking care of her baby.

Good luck to you.

My advice is to go ahead and find a dress now, and then have it altered after you have the baby, as close to the wedding as possible. You will have enough to deal with after the baby is born, and the last thing you're probably going to want to do is have to go find a dress, which could take several weeks for the store to order (if they don't already carry it), and you will probably need to alterate anyway. Don't forget, if you breast-feed, you're probably going to be significantly bigger in the chest than you are right now, so you should get a dress that is a few sizes bigger in that area. Good luck!

Dear GOD WAIT! I lost almost all of my baby weight by that point with my first, a little less with my second, a little less with my third and almost none with my fourth (LOL). However I didnt have a car with my first, we lived in the sticks and I walked my butt off. I was out of the hospital and walking after 48 hours! The more driving I did the less active I became the less weight I lost. I also had a fantastic pregnancy with the first no complications no c-section nada. I felt wonderful. I was young and very healthy. Every pregnancy is different, but I would wait. Or get a sympathetic seamstress to stand by.

You are probably going to be a little bit wider in those 3-4 weeks after birth, although your belly will probably be about the same or smaller than it is now. I guess it depends on what kind of dress it is, if it's form fitting, then I would definately wait.

Usually you go home from the hospital looking like you are five or six months pregnant. It does depend on your age, body type and how much weight you've gained. I would order a dress that can be altered either way...get a really good seamstress. I know this may not help much, sorry!

well, they say not to lose ANY weight until 6 weeks after having a baby, because your still healing, but when packing for a "over night bag" they say to pack cloths that you would fit in when you were 6 months, because your still about that size, now if your breastfeeding i hear that you lose weight in the first 6 weeks, but i suggest getting the dress, and maybe getting it altered???
