whether it is arranged marriage or love marriage, it is the existence of love, mutual understanding between the wife and husband that makes them stay together.

HELL no!
I think it would lead to MORE divorce!
I would kick up a HUGE fuss if someone tried to make me marry someone I didn't love, and I think ALL American women feel the same. That is a barbaric custom more suited to barbaric countries!

What we need to do is make it a LOT harder to actually get married. People go into it thinking it's all roses & candy, when it actually takes a lot of WORK and a lot of PATIENCE to keep a marriage going. Right now, it's harder to adopt a dog than it is to marry your life partner!

NO and NO again! the parents do not have to live with the partner....you do.
what if the parents choose and you can not stand each other?
what happened to being in love?
again, you have to live with that person the rest of your life, not your parents.......so are you saying they know what is best for you even after you are an adult? I think not.
Adults should have the freedom to fall in love and choose their own mate...one that "they" like and love....................keep the parent's out of this one
asking their advice is cool, but follow your own heart and feelings about another person who is going to be in your life till you or they die.......jeese, are you serious here...if so, maybe you should live in another country that does not offer you this freedom

be cool...

No, ablsolutely not. Parent's have no place in chosing the mates for their children. It's old-fashioned, unfair and for parents who do it to expect it to last is unrealistic. And by them chosing for their children, it would only set them up for marital failure.

No because the children wouldn't love their spouses. And that's against my religion.
