Yes # 2 heating fuel and On-Road Diesel are the same. The primary difference is the dye which is put it to show the extra taxes that have been paid to use it on the highway so if your using it to heat your house your paying extra for the fuel but in an emergency who cares right. The dye has not shown many signs of giving issues with clogged oil burner nozzles in short uses but may give problems if used for a long duration (i.e. months)

Yes, the only difference between the 2 is the dye they put in the home use version.

However, I'm not sure if the new sulfur reduced oil will be compatible.
