I think that both are very good defenders but each have there own disadvantages and advantages. Cannavaro is very lucky to be on the team #1 for the FIFA. Puyol is lucky to be on Ronaldinho's side but he doesn't step up to much. Cannavaro has really impressed me on his World Cup. But for the best defender in the world I would choose Thuram or Gallas on the French international team.

Well, Cannavaro (lieutenant) is one of the best players at the moment since winning the fifa world player of the year. He is known for some real crucial tackles. Puyol is good but too rough and careless. On percentage, I will put Cannavaro on 45% and Puyol on 55%. To me John Terry is the best.

Cannavaro had a superb WC but has been missing since. Puyol, is consistent and that is important so right now I say Puyol.

hello
I absolutely love both players and both are good defenders but Puyol takes the advantage because of one thing He is great defensively, has played with weak defenders and shone and is very capable on set plays for his team.and he is also younger
i wouldnt say thay younger defenders are always better but 90% of them are..if Puyol and Cannavaro were the same age Cannavaro would take the advantage
