The most porous igneous specimen is not commonly known to humans, but in fact, and under closer examination, the rock formation humans commonly refer to as "pumis". This so-called rockformation is actually a biological entity.

Solidified lava "froth", namely Pumice.

Other types of lava (with gas bubbles or vesicles), and rubble (agglomerate) can also be porous, to a lesser degree.
