I'm 27. I was living with my boyfriend but I decided to move out and went to stay with my parents. Now my dad thinks I should stay with them and let him build me an apartment in the basement for me so I can save money. I'll be working 45 minutes away though. Plus I'm not sure how it's gonna work out with my boyfriend given oru current situation and when I want to start dating again, how would guys feel about being in my apartment that just happens to be located in my parents' house? Plus, if they do the basement for me, it's not like I can just move out since they'll be relying on my money to pay for the loan they'll have to take out to pay for it. So should I stay with my parents and save 9 thousand dollars this year or should I move into my own place, which is closer to work and more convenient for any dating life I might have, either with my current bf or someone else?

It sounds like you have answered your own question.
It sounds like you still want to have your own place away from your parents.

I really believe everyone NEEDS to live on their own for a while, to know what it really means to be totally responsible for yourself. Even if you pay rent to your parents, you're still relying on them to a large extent. Granted it's a lot less expensive, but once you get your own place, it will be so worth it to have complete, total freedom to drink directly from the milk jug while watching TV in the buff.

Plus, I don't know how guys think about it, but I know I avoid dating men who still live with mommy and daddy after 23-25. I doubt the guys want to have to pass inspection with the 'rents right up front either, not to mention the scene that will ensue the first time mom or dad pops down for an unannounced visit and catches baby girl proving she's not a baby any more...

Definitely at your age, you need your own space and privacy. Your love life will definitely suffer if you remain with your parents, albeit in the basement. Remember, it would be very easy for either of your parents to visit you at the most inappropriate time and you have to ask yourself if you could live with either of them walking in on you while you get down and dirty with a boyfriend!!! That place will never be yours, no matter what your parents say or however good their intentions! Move out now, before it's too late!!!!
