take the width as x and the length as 2x

40.5 = 2x x x
40.5 = 2x(squared)
20.25 = x(squared)
x = 4.5
length = 9
width = 4.5

area = 40.5 sq ft
x = width
2x = length

(2x)(x) = 40.5 sq ft
2x^2 = 40.5
x^2 = 20.25 (divide both sides by 2)
x = 4.5 (find sq root of both sides)

width = x = 4.5 ft
length = 2x = 9 ft

4.5 ft x 9 ft

A²+B²=C²
4.5²+9²=c²
20.25+81=c²
101.25=c²
10.06≈c

A=9
B=4.5
C≈10.06

This answer is only if you need all three dimensions of the triangle
If you just need Base and Height the answer is:
Base = x = 4.5
Height = 2x = 9

Area of rectangle = l*b

40.5= l*b
since length is twice as breadth, l=2b
40.5=2b*b
40.5=2b*b
20.25=b*b, sqrt b=4.5
b=4.5feet
l=4.5*2
=9 feet
l=9feet, b=4.5feet

Think: Formula for finding area of rectangle. Now plug in what you know already. Hint: remeber x and 2x?
Good luck!

So A=x*(2x)=2x^2=40.5
x^2=20.25
x=4.5

So the dimensions are 4.5 ft. by 9 ft.
