alcohol and drugs? Do they have a 'natural' propensity to act in extreme ways due to their motivation to be known as a public figures, or is it simply a sad reality that many stars are drawn into?

Part of it is that generally it seems that insecure people go into acting. Obviously some a lot more than others. But someone whos fairly insecure wants to be told over and over how great they are.
You add to that the fact that any modest sucess means many times more cash than you've ever had before... People around who'll do anything for you just to be part of your enturage... Someone who may have never considered drugs before now has easy access and can afford it.
Of course, there's also long hours on any movie or television set. That's gotta be stressful.

thinking that ALL celebrities drink or do drugs would be incorrect. Not all celebrities do drugs/drunk just like not all people do. There are a lot of people in the world who do drugs/drink. Celebrities are more prone to do it, I believe because they have bundles of extra cash to spend on it. If they want to drink, they do, no expence matters, same with drugs, they want it, they'll pay to get it, they have money, so they do. Plus a lot of it is not having normal lives.... they have nannies to watch the kids, lots of free time inbetween movies or projects... to get into drugs and drinking.
im not saying any of it is right or wrong, its just what i believe happends.

Some of it can be attributed to just meeting the wrong people. Then there's the pressure of the business where you may be up all hours of the night...getting little sleep...so you take a pill to help you sleep...after a while your body gets immune to that one so you need something stronger. Lots of parties to go to and lots of drinks to choose from and some people think they can't have fun if they don't drink...so they do that to excess, too. :)

they usually become dependent on them because of there heavy work schedule. they work all day and all night and will take anything to keep themselves going. unfortunately they destroy themselves. i also believe young stars have too much money and don't know what to do with it. so they just blow it on drink and drugs.
