I will always stand by my opinion of him, 'an overpayed git who gives soccer a bad name and who also can't run to save his life'

Why do people fawn all over him like a god. He should retire. Most players in England are now five times better than him and hw will always be a git.

YOU ARE TOTALLY right.....not only will Becham bring ZERO fans to the MLS, i think he is much more likely to destory the MLS than improve it. HE has basically stolen a quater of a billion dollars from the league and is only a medicore soccer player. I liked the MLS before Beckham; they had an excellent product and the games were fun.

Only if the come from the UK to watch him play.

When I was a kid their were the Big 4 Sports baseball, basketball, football and hockey.

Then golf and Nascar became more popular.

Soccer may grow in popularity, but it will be because more children are playing it and grow up to be soccer fans, not because of any one player.

You're absolutely right. BUT, since football nowadays is nothing but show, it needs stars. And DB is a huge one. Girls (of all ages) love him, young boys too. Don't forget that as Real Madrid bought him from ManU, went on tour in Asia. After the tour they already depreciated the money they had spent for him, only from selling the "Bekham jumper" to the asians. I hate him (and especially his wife), but he's a star.

Easy to talk now, same as it is easy to be critical of Ronaldo now.

However, in his prime, there wasn't a better right midfielder in England, and maybe the world.

One of the best crossers I have ever seen, and a great passer. He linked up so well with Neville down the right, and he was once a world class player.
