Powell River, British Columbia. Protected by lofty barrier mountain to the east and west, while being warmed by an inland sea, Powell River is rated by the USDA as having the same climate as Houston, Texas and St. Augustine, Florida.

There is no 'one place' that would be safer than all the other places in all the different kinds of 'disaster' that could happen ... but the 'place' you could be 'looking for' would have to be 'totally isolated' with a 'good climate' so that you could grow all of your own food, and with enough 'trees' to cut to build your house ... which would be someplace on an island off the coast with lots of 'high mountains' so you could be 'about 3/4 of the way up' the mountain ... and you'd have to be SURE that the mountain wasn't 'volcanic' because if it 'erupted' you'd be in a 'world of hurt.' In short, simply 'make the best of wherever you are' or go to a place where you can live a life that will 'make you happiest' ... and quit worrying about 'where it's safest' ... and if you are truly worried about being 'killed or hurt' in a 'disaster' then your time would be 'better spent' getting the 'facts about survival' out to ALL PEOPLE ... in a REASONABLE WAY.

So where ARE the Safe Places on Earth? Where can we go to avoid catastrophic disasters from a sudden and violent change in our climate? Perhaps we should begin by telling you there are few, if any, safe places in the world of the future. All of the current scenarios for severe weather and climate change entail monster storms, massive flooding, disruption of agriculture and political turmoil.

We have conducted a risk assesment of the Earth's safe places, based upon key factors including Climate, Seismic Activity, Exposure to Pollution, Vunerability to Terrorism, Economic Stability, Local Food Supply, and Resources.

In reviewing the Earth's safe places, we considered many locations, but only one safe place met all of our key factors. Our final choice for the Safest Place will probably suprise you, because it is located much farther north than anyone would suspect for such a delightful climate.

Our choice for Safest Place is Powell River, British Columbia. Protected by lofty barrier mountain to the east and west, while being warmed by an inland sea, Powell River is rated by the USDA as having the same climate as Houston, Texas and St. Augustine, Florida.

Well, I live in Southern Idaho. I don't think we have to worry about nuclear threat or earthquakes here. We have an aquifer, so there is fresh water here. We are far away from the ocean, so we don't have to worry about tidal waves or sea level rising. I would say that this is a pretty safe place. There is always the ouside chance that the Yellowstone Caldera will blow up, though. If that happens, everyone here can kiss their *** goodbye.

I think that safest places are Indiana,Ohio, Colorado,Arizona or Wyoming, becasue they bearly get hit by tornados or anything! I think that moving to another country is just too much, because there are so many places in the united states where you could move and be out of harms way!
