Have you ever had that problem? My 5 months old does not drink breast milk from a bottle! When I give him Gripe water, baby tea, or just plain water, he drinks it with pleasure, but he absolutely refuses to take breastmilk or formula! It's hard for me, because when we go out, I have to look for a place to breastfeed him. Or if I leave him with a babysitter, she can't feed him.
I tryed all bottles and nipples on the market, nothing works.
How comes he drinks water but not milk?

My son refused to breast feed, and my daughter refused to bottle feed. Be grateful that he does drink the water from the bottle, my daughter wouldnt even drink water. He knows that the bottle is not "right" for breast milk, and he likes the bond and comfort he gets from you. So relax, and enjoy that he wants to be with you, even tho it can be difficult at times, because so quickly he will no longer be breast feeding. They grow too fast

My baby wouldn't take breastmilk from a bottle if I was in the house. He would take tea and gripe water though. He isn't dumb he knows where milk comes from, why take it from a bottle when he can be warm and snuggly with mom?
However, I have to say, it is by far easier to breastfeed in public than to keep bottles of milk cold, then find a place to warm them up. The milk in my boobs is always there, and always the right temperature. Plus if you are out and bottle feeding eventually you are going to need to pump because you are full.

My son won't either. Daughter would take whatever you gave her whenever you gave it the little piggy. But our boy has NEVER accepted a bottle of anything. He gets water from a cup now, will accept juice in a cup if I offer it but don't often, mostly just his water. And Mystic's reasons why apply to our situation as well.
Sometimes it helps if you actually leave the room or even the house, but not always, it sure didn't here. He would just wait until I returned. If he has ANY solids at all, although at 5 months he doesn't need them, try arranging the schedule so that he has those while you are out.

Babies will never take it from a bottle from the mother. They are not dumb, then know the breasts are right there.
Neither of our daughters liked it from a bottle, no matter if it's the mother or not. What I did was use one of those very small baby feeding tubes (they put in the baby's nose at the hospital -- swiped it from hospital, they won't just give you one) and put my finger in the baby's mouth and when she was sucking on my finger, slipped the tube in, the other end was in the milk. Worked. I need to swipe another for our two month old. Eventually, at perhaps 5 or 6 months, I could just feed her from a small cup, then awhile later, she'd feed herself from the cup. This was while the mother was at work.
Also, I'd never recommend feeding babies milk and other products at the same time. Exclusive breast milk is best.

Are YOU the one trying to feed him the breastmilk or formula from the bottle? Try letting someone else feed him without you in the room--sometimes this helps.

He likes his milk straight from the tap. My kids wouldn't take bottles either. It is a hassle but what can you do. Maybe start trying a sippy cup and see if he will drink it like that.
