The weather is perfect in October, the average high is 81 the average low 53. Early in the month you can still have some 90 degree days, later in the month the highs are usually in the mid 70's. You might want to take a light jacket for evenings. All of the pools are still open in October.
for things to do, check this site
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com >"VEGAS INFO" >shows/events >free spectacles >etc -
take a look at the LVA's POV it might save you guys a lot of money in a weeks time.
my favorite site to check room rates
http://www.travelworm.com
the bus system is a great way to get around a 24 hour pass will cost you $2.50 if you board the bus off of LV Blvd. They gouge the tourist, it's $5 for a 24 hour pass if you board the "Deuce" .
The LVA site above has a list of all the free hotel shuttles in LV, this is a great service and way to visit some of the off strip hotels.

If you're going to gamble, sign up for and use the slot club cards. Even if you don't think you play "enough" you might be very surprised by the offers you receive in the mail. If you want to see an afternoon show, Mac King at Harrah's is the best by far, and Harrah's has given 2 free tickets to the show for first time slot club sign ups>only one of you need sign up, you don't have to play a nickel.

October is a great time to be in Las Vegas! The weather is warm, but not 125 degrees, and Las Vegas has the BEST Halloween parties! The Grand Canyon is close, but it may be quite cold there that time of year. You should go to the Freemont Street Experience. It's free, and they do it every hour after dark until midnight or 11 (I can't remember which). It is a big awning over Freemont Street (where all the "Old Vegas" hotels are) where they project shows, and you have to look up at the HUGE ceiling.

The usual weather is sunny and warm - it is in the desert. Try and do a trip to the Grand Canyon, it's really amazing. For the casinos, set yourself a limit and stick to it - it's easy to get carried away! The architecture of some of the casinos has to be seen to be believed although of course it's all fake. Food and drink is cheap. There are also some great shows to see with some famous names - although you do pay for them.
Have a great time!

Hiya,
we went to vegas this october just gone and its out of this world!!! just dont make the mistake i did...take plenty of cardigans/ jackets in the day its very hot but you tend to walk through the casinos and dine in them and they r freezing. take comfortable shoes and always have water on hand. you must fly into the grand canyone thats fab. catch a show. get a limo. visit all the freebies in the hotels. you must eat at the mandalay buffet its magnificent an d very cheap. make sure you have 1 day of rest because i was knackred all wk due to over doing it. dining at the top of the stratosphere is good 2. drive a hummer on the tracks thats very fun. have a go on the magic carpet ride for a great memory 2 take home. hold onto your camera and bags we had our camera stolen in a casino. have fun x

vegas is fantastic! there is so much to see, u can spend nearly two days just looking at each hotel(the extent they go is unbelievable, 'new york, new york' has a rollercoaster inside of it, the stratsphere has excellent rides and a fantastic aerial view) and u can just walk along the strip. i recommend goin to a circus de soul show(its amazing), celien dion, strip clubs(they are meant to be the best in the world) and of course, gambling(blackjack or slots)
