My mother had 4 c-sections and she did have a build-up of scar tissue(which is why physicians don't advise more than 2 or 3). She had to have a hysterectomy when she turned 45, but had years of problems before they figured out what was going on. I know that, with that kind of family history, I will not have more than 3 myself(I've already had 1). It really is up to you, but the risk of scar tissue issues significantly goes up each time you have a cesarean. I suggest doing some research and definitely ask your mom, aunts, sisters, cousins and get an idea of your family history then make a decision. Good luck!

Because everyone's body is different, there is no for sure answer. You doctor may be basing his opinion on the build up of scar tissue. Also, he is prob basing it on the 'normal' # of c-sections a woman can endure. BUT, there are MANY doctors that feel more then 3 is 'ok'. If you truly want one more, seek a specialists opinion perhaps in a larger city, have him examine you and decide if your body would be conducive to one more pregnancy. It is extremely possible one more is just fine. I know many women that have had 4 and a couple that even had 5. Again, every body type is different.. Your current doctor may see something that indicates no more c-sections is the way to go safely. Best of luck to you!!

I have had 3 c-sections and we plan on having one more baby. I have already discussed this with my OB (she has delivered all 3 of our little ones) and she said that yes, there is an increased risk each time you have a c-section because of all the scar tissue. There is a very slight chance that the dr. could accidentally tear your intestines or some other organs. However, my OB said that the most important thing is that they take their time during the surgery. I would definitely talk with your OB, and if you don't like what they have to say, perhaps go to another dr and get some other opionions before you make your decision.

My best friend has three children all born by c section...the only reason that a doctor would say that is because there is a build up of scar tissue and it is a little more difficult to cut through it. but the other thing is that if you get pregnant again...and try to have a vaginal delivery, there is a chance that the scar from the previous c sections could rip open inside you which would cause you to have another c section anyway. In other words the doctors "prefer" not to do any more but it would be in your best interest to have another if you do become pregnant.

I know a guy who's wife had 4. I know that the doc told her that it became riskier each time because of all the scar tissue. I think I remember him telling me that for the last one they actually had to have an extra surgeon in the room (in addition to the two already there) in case there were any extra complications.

o my god don't scary me pls...i had baby on c section and i was wondering about same think as you do....and i think i would talk with OBGYN and let him exam you and tell you should you or shouldn't have more c-sections. I know one woman who has two baby's on c-section and her doctor told her she shouldn't have anymore baby's and i don't know, i think not every woman are the same, some can some can't, but i would suggest you to take doctors advice...good luck
