You know the ones I'm talking about which advertise in the sunday paper. The TREE TOMATO or "produces bushels of tomatos". I always want to get them but I don't want to be ripped off.

I get those ads in my Sunday Paper too....

My only question is... if it is such a great plant, why do they have a cartoon picture instead of a real one?

I have had great success growing a regular tomato plant indoors... don't fall victim to these scams :0)

I wouldn't waste my money on them. You can go to any nursery, Lowe's, Home Depot, or even Wal Mart and purchase good healthy plants that are VFN and plant them in good soil, take care of them, and they will yield all the tomatoes you could want. I'd also worry about how you would stake a tomato that tall and how would you pick these tomatoes at 9'. Some varieties I would recommend are Early Girl, Better Boy, Big Boy, Celebrity, and if you're in the south Hempstead. I grow 30 to 40 tomato plants, mix of varieties, every year. Most are of these varieties. I also usually plant a few Gold Medal from www.seedsavers.com.

Yes, pretty much, as long as you follow the care instructions. These tomato plants are high yielders. However, you can get the same thing for half the price by purchasing tomato flats at the market and amending the soil right, then supporting the plants appropriately and feeding them well. I purchase Early Girl variety and also like to supplement with Better Boy.

Tomatoes and pea are effective, yet i'm having a confusing time imagining cantaloupe doing very nicely. Cantaloupe roots will improve deeper and unfold wider than i think of you will choose in a field. once you're incredibly specific you go with to try this however you will choose a field it fairly is a minimum of 24" deep for the cantaloupe. The vines can unfold approximately twelve feet, while that's completely grown, so which you are going to desire a solid "ladder" for it to climb. The "ladder" would desire to stick out of the airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust or greater efficient yet, be related to the factors and could be 6 feet tall. A field it fairly is 24"tall x 40 8"huge x 40 8" would probable paintings for one cantaloupe plant in case you wrap the vines somewhat because it grows and positioned the plant interior the middle. Peas would be effective in a field in case you provide it something to climb on. i think what i'd do is make a field 12"intense x 36"long x 12"huge with a lattice or posts 5 feet tall for 3-5 pea flora. Pea flora would desire to be approximately 10" aside and six" from the two factors. A field it fairly is eighteen" intense x 18"huge x 5"long would in effective condition 3-4 tomato flora. i'd positioned them 12" aside and 9" from the two factors. additionally, in case you go with to plant "toms", that's incredibly helpful to purchase starter flora instead of planting seeds or you will possibly no longer get any provided that they take so long to enhance. It specific feels like fairly some paintings. confirm to place a hollow interior the backside of each and every field so water can drain out and not rot the roots. i'd positioned a pair hollow under the cantaloupe. be sure additionally that anyplace you place the bins gets a minimum of 8 hours of direct image voltaic and water it each and every 2 days without rain. Water it interior the early morning or after airborne dirt and dust however or the sunlight can burn the leaves. nicely solid good fortune.

I don't know the advertisements you speak of, but i have grown many varieties of indeterminate (keep growing) tomatoes in excess of 9 ft. If they are properly supported they can grow quite large.
