Can she ask for the baby to be washed right away instead of being wiped with a dry clothing? I wanted to know because i was put in cold water in stead of being spanked like some other babies. I wanted to know the routine for the U.S. I was born in Suriname.

I think spanking is old-school. The more common technique now is to rub the baby's back and chest vigorously to help them breath. They bathed my son within the first 24 hours, but because their little bodies are still adjusting to the sudden change in environment, they don't bathe until later.

The baby's temperture has to be established before they will bathe them. Pretty sure they won't wash them right away. Maybe look into doing a water birth with a midwife if that is your preference??

I don't think any doctors every spanked my three girls. I think they came out already ticked off.
