The Democrats want more social programs and want everyone to pay for them. This is tantamount to a tithe and is similar to the early Christian church.

♥austingirl♥ - I'm inclined to give you best answer, but you don't attend church regularly which sounds hypocritical. Are you saying that some people keep you from worshipping God regularly at church?

In words- The Republicans
ex. Intolerance to gays, minorities, etc (Jesus is a very tolerant man, don't worry about the splinter in another man's eyes, when you have a log in yours...remember?)
War-mongering (Jesus was a peaceful man, turn the other cheek....remember?)
Forced compliance to morality (The only way to salvation is through choice, according to the Bible)
Cutting social services-- The Bible is full of references of helping the poor and destitute (Repubs. just call 'em "lazy")
In deeds- The Democrats
Increasing social services
Tolerance
Peace
Choice
....WWJD?
EDIT: Andy in a perfect world, the two (politics and religion) could be easily separated, however as evidenced by current political rhetoric and the mass mobilization of the Evangelicals in the 2004 election, it tells a different story.
EDIT: Mojojo...the "hairs on the head" reference is being largely misunderstood by you (Matthew 10:30). Conception is not referred to and besides you don't have any hair at conception, you are a couple cells at that time.
Also read Matt. 10:28-29. "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. “Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. That completely go against what you are saying. Those who have an abortion are "kiling" a body, not a soul...and therefore should not be feared. The next line states that God is aware of all that is going on and he is ALLOWING it for his own reasons. Think about it.
...and I used to attend church on a regular basis, but I find too many people like you who don't quite "get" the purpose/meaning of Christianity.
EDIT: To the questioner: I don't feel that my religous beliefs are best served at many of my local congregations. That does not mean I do not have an active spiritual life, I just haven't found a home congregation at this time, trust me, it saddens me too. Remember, the church are the people not the structure. I try to worship God in everything that I do, and not just on Sundays...he is with me wherever I am. Also, Jesus never preached at a "church" anyways, who can forget the famous Sermon on the Mount (one of my fave parts of the Bible).
Anyways, thanks for the good question, I had a lot of fun with it :o)!

Republicans
I do not believe God is for killing little babies.
I will answer the rest later.
Its later.Jesus Christ after talking to a sinner he would say "Go and sin no more."
In the old testament Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of sexual immorality. In the old testament If a man lies with a man he shall be put to death. They also call homosexuality an abomination to the Lord. Jesus Christ came not to destroy the law but to fulfill it. He does not condemn the man for that is done already by the Father. He would say Go and sin no more. In other words Go and not be homosexual any more is what Jesus would say by the proof of his past sayings. He never gave sinners a pass at being sinners. And Republicans have so far given a black American the closest to becoming President twice. the Sec. of State is after Pelosi in line for the Presidency. In Lev. i cannot find where. It takes about accidentally hitting a pregnant woman and she looses the child. The man shall be shunned away from the village. I guess a baby is worth something after all.

democrats- they don't judge, they help others/do charities, keep religion and church seperate (jesus said let what is caesar's be caesar's and what is god's be god's), we're peacemakers, we stick up for the underdogs, ect
there are other reasons but I can't recall them all off the top of my head. I think what I can recall if enough to prove my point
_god also said its hard for a rich man to get into heaven, which party is working class?_

Republicans claim to be christians. In all actuality they are very narrow minded. They seem to be a large ignorant group. They focus on one issue in particular. Abortion. As a whole its a very selfish, greedy party that clouds itself with distractive tactics. I really think that putting others in danger is no better than "baby killings". With this so-called war it seems as though its more of a tactical genicide rather than some excuse to declare freedom to Iraq. Republicans make me sick.

I'm a Liberal, and I'm a Christian. And I'd have to say that there are more true Christians in the Republican party than in the Democratic Party. But not by much.
Of the Republicans who represent themselves as Christian I would guess that perhaps 10% of them actually live and think in a manner reflective of Christian principles. The rest of them are no more Christian than the atheists and humanists that are more common to the Democratic party. And that is not to say that there aren't Christians in the Democratic party.

Republicans are the ones who are more likely to go to church, but Democrats seem to want to help their fellow man the same way Jesus did. I would say they are both equally Christian.

From their actions in the past 62 years (since the end of ww2), I would say neither party is very Christian-like.

I'd say the Conservative Republicans. They don't believe in gay marriage, abortion, and we should all work for what we acquire. God's word says that he knew the number of hairs on our heads even at conception, so He's against abortion. God's word says that Homosexual offenders will NOT enter the kingdom of heaven, so He's against homosexual rights, and marriage. God's word also says that if a man doesn't work then he doesn't eat, so He's against welfare bottom feeders. God's word says that if you live by the sword you'll die by it, so that vouches for capital punishment. These are all Republican traits that go hand in hand with Christian beliefs.
Austingirl is a bleeding heart that has probably never even opened a bible. Don't you just love those clueless Libs? LOL...

The ones who believe that a person should be able to
do anything he/she wants to do,& have every kind of
freedom amaginable, even if others gets hurt is usually
in at least 95% of the time a Liberal. The majority of
Liberals are Democrates!!!
Republicans believe in working hard & reaching goals
by respect and by earning it,not by having everything
handed to them,& many of them believe in good values
and morals. Sorry if I'm biased, but I have seen how many
of the Democrates behave. Most Democrates believe in
abortion, yet many of them are Catholic's,& their faith is
suppose to be against abortion,ect.... They tend to say one
thing and do another.
