You can't, you must get their consent to run a check. It's standard operating procedure now for many jobs here in Ireland, I imagine Britain is the same, but the person must fill in a form requesting their clearance be shown to the third party (ie the prospective employer).

well if you need to get a criminal background check on someone then i sugest you might walk away from this person as something in you makes you feel you need this you will usualy be right go with your gut instinct even if after you get a background check you will still feel that something is not right about this person just walk away as you might regret it down the road

Sorry love you can't, you can try on the net but that is way illegal, then you'll end up with one your self. The data protection act prevents this type of information being released to the public.

that is classified data ,even your solicitor wont reveal it to you .With or without a valid reason you have no access rights .this is invasion of privacy.You can enquire from citizens advice bureau (legal dept)for free as to your standing on this matter.Dont expect any joy however helpful they be .If you check out other person ,they can check you also via their solicitor .This is a mine-field be careful.

Thats a bit devious! Not advisable check data protection and depends on your concerns I pressume i.e. if you are an organisation however you need consent.
